Mimaki’s award-winning range of textile, industrial and garment decorating printers and cutters makes it easy to add new revenue, new products and improved workflow. Stephen Woodall, national sales manager, textile and apparel at the manufacturer’s UK and Irish distributor, Hybrid Services, talks about the benefits to business.
Cutting edge garment decoration
With printer/cutters starting from under £6,000 and in sizes ranging from 75cm up to 1.6m, their compact footprint, integrated workflow and ease of use make Mimaki the ideal choice for first time entrants to the wide format sector and ensure a rapid return on investment. Perfect for printing in full photographic quality colour to garment marking film with either solvent or dye sublimation ink and then accurately cutting out complex shapes; the Mimaki CJV150 Series printer/cutters use software that plugs in to either CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator.
Stephen explains: “Working seamlessly in industry-standard software with design, file setup, print and cut creates a very intuitive process and makes print production a breeze for operators.
“Garment decorators can really think outside the box with one of these printers. The latest Mimaki printer/cutters are so productive that even large orders of transfers are output quickly, creating capacity to print banners, signs, display graphics, canvas prints and much more.
“Up-selling to existing customers is a much easier proposition than looking for new markets. Targeting a school or sports club that’s already buying printed or embroidered garments from you, with pull-up banners or other graphics makes sound business sense.”
Taking this one step further is Mimaki’s UJF range of small format flatbed LED UV printers, capable of imprinting almost any object. Pens, USB sticks and other small items can be individually decorated with high quality print in millions of colours. Stephen states: “The UJF range is amazingly flexible. The same printer that can be used for lower value items can also create stunning, full colour photoblocks on clear polished acrylic, or similar higher-value items. The potential to generate considerable additional revenue is only constrained by the operator’s imagination.”
With bed sizes from A3 up to 710x510mm and able to print items up to 150mm thick, the Mimaki UJF series starts at below £16,000. Inks include clear varnish and opaque white so coloured and transparent objects can be printed to in vibrant colour with unsurpassed print quality.
“Short runs, bespoke output, no screens or start-up costs, and super-fast turnaround is all possible with a Mimaki UJF,” confirms Stephen. “It’s empowering companies to bring back production to the UK and Ireland.”

Mimaki’s direct to textile and dye sublimation heritage is peerless, with R&D experience dating back to the late 1990s. Current offerings include wide format dye sub printer packages starting at below £12,000 enabling in-house printing of sportswear, fashion and apparel.
Stephen says: “With our latest direct to textile and dye sublimation printers, Mimaki has all bases covered. Our specialist reseller network can assist new entrants with turn-key systems, as well as working alongside existing customers to develop a genuine made in the UK operation.
“The barriers to entry for true UK manufacturing have reduced enormously, with printers capable of delivering over 100sq metres an hour of transfer paper or fabric now more affordable than ever.
“Mimaki’s cutting edge textile technology ensures companies have never been better placed to maximise the benefits of in-house print and production – whatever the volumes.”
