Dalesway Print Technology hosted the first three-day screen printing training course in the UK delivered by master screen printer and educator Douglas Grigar, in April.

The course took place from April 23 to 25 at the company’s premises in Lancashire.

Asked what he enjoyed most about the course, one student commented: “The practical learning and being taught by someone who is a brilliant screen printer and a brilliant teacher.”

This emphasises the fact that both these skills are key to conveying the crucial information to ensure students get the maximum benefit and go away with skills that will make a real difference to their business.

The in-depth, hands-on nature of the course was well received and the students commented that they would feel equally as comfortable taking on a full colour process print job as a bog standard one or two colour one.

Attendees on the first course who had no previous screen printing experience commented how the three-day course had provided them with a solid base of knowledge that was backed up with practical experience. One business owner stated during an interview that attending the course has saved him and his employee that also attended, months of learning and making mistakes and to print profitably right from the word go.

Other comments included feeling more confident with the process of screen printing after three days than they did with the use of their multi-head embroidery machine after several years. The same delegate expressed a desire to send any future employees on the course as part of their induction into the company.

The next Screen Printing A to Z Course with Douglas Grigar will take place from June 18 to 20 at Dalesway Print Technology’s headquarters in Barnoldswick, Lancashire.
