Environmental benefits of a school uniform

A recent litter pick

Schoolwear supplier David Luke has entered its fifth year in partnership with Eco Schools. The organisation has over 18,000 schools in England working to its programme, empowering children and young adults to drive environmental change through its simple seven-step process.

David Luke sponsors Eco Schools’ Litter topic, resonating directly with the Bottle to Blazer message that has expanded to items throughout the product range. With blazers, jackets, trousers, skirts, polo shirts and sweatshirts all being manufactured from post-consumer waste plastic bottles, students can see the tangible environmental benefits a David Luke uniform can bring.

In 2017, David Luke invited stockists to join them on the programme and train to become Eco-Schools Assessors. This has been a fantastic way for local businesses to visit schools on behalf of Eco Schools, changing the conversation from uniform and price, to engage directly over issues that schools are passionate about.

During 2018, David Luke, in conjunction with Eco Schools and its parent organisation, Keep Britain Tidy, will co-ordinate littler picks in various parts of England. These events will bring David Luke stockists and local Eco Schools together to show again how taking action in the community, engaging with young people and driving environmental change are all key elements of a positive future and an essential way of doing business.
