Using the latest in toner-based technology available from TheMagicTouch it is now possible to personalise football, rugby and other various sports balls with full colour logos and images.

Until now the decoration and personalisation of balls has been mainly restricted to single colour designs applied using traditional PAD printing which involves a degree of setting up and not suitable for photographic images and certainly not for individual designs. Volume orders are normally printed and processed at the factory in China or Pakistan involving high minimum order levels and up to six weeks order processing.

Using the ProSeries Oki 7411WT white-toner printer and CPM transfer paper full colour images and logos can be applied to almost any type of ball using a modified ball-shaped platen manufactured by A.Adkins. The process is quick, easy and very durable with the cost per printed panel at less than 5p per image.

Over the past six months the company has successfully conducted various trials with leading European ball manufacturers to ensure the various PU surfaces available are compatible to the low-heat application and remains durable.

Jim Nicol, managing director, explained: “We recently decorated some 32 panel balls for a local club decorated with team member photos which was very well received and confirmed the great business opportunity to develop over the coming months and years.”

Using the white-toner option also enables any non-white panels to be decorated as the choice of styles and colours of balls available continues to grow.
