CKL announces new pricing structure and products for 2015

With new products and new brands being introduced over the coming months, it is fair to say all is a go at CKL in 2015.

Bali Rakhra, sales and marketing director of the Scottish-based importer and distributor, said: “We may not be the biggest, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still be the best.”

Mr Rakhra’s father Nahar, laid the foundations of CKL by beginning to manufacture ladies clothing in the 1940s under the name Clyde Clothing Company. CKL was founded in 1972 and has expanded to not only manufacturing its own brands, TopSport, D-MAX, CKL Classics, CKL Schoolwear, but also to distributing some well-known brands including Fruit of the Loom, Russell, Kustom Kit and Regatta to name but a few.

It’s providing value for money that has been key to CKL’s success over the decades.

Mr Rakhra continued: “Being both the manufacturer and the distributor meant that we could act responsively to the feedback that we received directly from the buyers. CKL’s customers have always been highly price-conscious, while still requiring high quality and my Dad taught me from an early age of the importance of minimising unnecessary waste. As a child I used to think he was just being stingy, but later realizsd how crucial it is to think that way to be efficient and reduce costs. It was part of his nature, as in India, very little if anything goes to waste. It is the ultimate recycling culture. And efficiency has definitely been a primary factor for our company.”

But what about the future? “Over the past year, we have been gaining new customers from England, particularly London, resulting in turnover increases of over 1,000% for some of our stronger value ranges – including the 400 new retail quality accessories we have successfully introduced in 2014, as well as a significant upsurge in bespoke manufacturing job.

And now on the back of this success CKL has decided to further expand its offering for 2015, with a price overhaul to bring unprecedented levels of value to the market.

CKL will also introduce new brands and is in the process of developing some new and exclusive products for the summer. These will encompass garments across premium leisurewear, corporatewear, industrial workwear and PPE.
