Embroidered or woven badges? DM Badges explains…

Welcome to DM Badges – the sister company behind DigitisingMart.

You have most probably already heard of DigitisingMart before as the company regularly exhibits at international exhibitions like Printwear & Promotion LIVE! and you may well have received one of the company’s e-marketing flyers. Based in the West Midlands, until recently the company has been supplying quality embroidered badges (patches) to its UK customers – and now,  purely due to customer demand, it now also sell woven ones too. Whether it is for a Boy Scout troop, a football team, a promotional event or advertising, many groups decide on custom patches to do the job.

Embroidered vs woven? The technical difference is that woven badges are made by weaving together fine threads, while embroidered badges are made by stitching thicker threads onto a piece of fabric. Because embroidered threads are thicker and are stitched onto a piece of fabric, the effect is that the stitching has a raised feel.

By contrast because woven badges are made by weaving threads together rather than stitching to a fabric, the surface of the final badges is very flat and smooth. Additionally because the threads themselves are finer, it is possible to achieve much greater detail than with embroidery.

Because DM Badges can also pantone colour match woven threads (embroidery threads cannot be pantone colour matched), woven is a better choice for corporate logos or situations where exact colour replication is critical.

There are a number of different types of backing available. Whether it is a simple sew-on patch you are after or your customer needs one with an iron-on, adhesive, magnetic or a Velcro etc. backing, you can simply get an automatic quote from DM Badge’s dedicated website www.dmbadges.co.uk (verified by the team the following business day). The process is incredibly simple and your completed patches can be with you within a couple of weeks of placing your order. Furthermore, there is no digitising (set-up) cost or shipping cost to the UK and you are dealing directly with a trustworthy UK Limited company.
