Blue Max Banner has announced the expansion of its Quality Control department at the head office in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. The new department increased from one member of staff to a team of three from March. The dedicated full-time personnel will report to Chris Whitby, commercial director.
Each of the three team members are tasked with ensuring that every garment that is shipped to customers by Blue Max Banner makes the grade.
“This is a highly complex process and one on which our business relies,” says Chris, “particularly with schoolwear as a major part of the business portfolio.
“Colour consistency is critical to this sector. As its name suggests, schoolwear needs to be uniform. The colour of a sweatshirt worn by a year five student must match that of a new sweatshirt worn by a new student starting in reception class. Fabric quality is also very much part of our business reputation.
“The team will be responsible for sourcing the very best there is to ensure durability and longevity for customers.”
All three team members have been recruited internally. Christine Crowe, who will head up the department, has 12 years’ experience in quality control and has been with the Blue Max Banner purchasing department as a merchandiser for four years. Supporting Christine will be Hannah Carr and Slawomir Pisarek.
The department is equipped with state of the art technology including a Data Colour 110 Spectrometer.
“The industry standard is 1.1 but we use a much tighter control of 0.8,” continues Chris. “Customers can also rest assured that all our QC procedures are ISO accredited.”
