New garments and fabrics bring new challenges for printers – something that has been confronted head on by TheMagicTouch.
The new “breathable” fabrics along with other polyester spun based garments have, due to their structure, created some scorching and marking issues when having transfers applied using a traditional heat press.
So what is the best way to decorate the new generation wickable polyester fabrics?
Answer? The WoW 7.2 Transfer paper from TheMagicTouch.
Printing white wickable fabrics with sublimation transfers leaves an unacceptable scorch mark as the process needs a fusing temperature of around 190C for approx 40 seconds; the problem is actually more evident on dark colours.
The same applies using various flex and flock products that are applied at 150 TO 170C for about 15 seconds, resulting again in the unwanted platen scorch marks.
The vast range of colours available with AWDis Just Cool T shirts and polo shirts is superb giving a choice and range as never seen before for both the sportswear and workwear markets.
While screen-printing still remains an option for decoration it’s unable to cater for the short run demand that has become one of the major growth factors for many decorators throughout Europe over the past three years.
The scorching of the polyester fabrics is simply caused by the heat transfer press operating at 150C or above and tends to leave the platen shape visible on the decorated garment, many end user customers simply do not find this acceptable.
TheMagicTouch WoW transfer offers the perfect solution to dramatically reduce the scorching effect being applied as low as 110C and taking no longer than 40 seconds to fully fuse.
The result is an acceptable garment printed in full colour with detail and durability “second to none”.
TheMagicTouch recently unveiled at FESPA in Hamburg their latest WoW 7.5 version that is expected to be made available to existing clients very soon. Watch this space from more innovation that will change how garments and fabrics are decorated for the future.
