The PROMOTA Board decided to reschedule The Event, planned to take place on June 8 in Telford. David Webster, PROMOTA chairman, said: "We have canvassed members and their resounding view is that an Event would be better staged in the Autumn and arranged at locations closer to the membership. We are currently in negotiation with key partners to facilitate this. In this way it will minimise the travelling for all our members and enable us to reach out to a wider audience."
Earlier this year, PROMOTA announced that the key focus for 2011 would be creating opportunities for members to develop their businesses.
David commented: "PROMOTA is right in the midst of the development of new innovative ideas to help members develop their staff and their businesses. We are in the process of finalising the content and will announce further details shortly. This rescheduling will also give us the opportunity to consult with members as to their requirements from the Association at the same time."
The decision to reschedule was also influenced by the announcement of another important date in the industry's calendar.
David continued: "With the Telford event already planned, we were made aware that the Page Catalogue Group Awards – and a party to celebrate the retirement of George Hayward – were to be held on the same day. With respect to that and in consultation with strategic partners, it makes sense to postpone to the later date."
