ETC Supplies have announced the launch of a new self lubricating backing. Available exclusively through ETC, it is widely used in the Far East for bulk production as it reduces many problems associated with embroidery on technical fabrics.
The product is non woven and easy tear with a special impregnated lubrication coating on one side. You can use this on all embroidery, but it is especially good for applications such as badges, jackets, sportswear, caps, denim, workwear, leather, bonded fabrics and more.
According to ETC, the benefits include:
- Reduced needle breaks;
- Smoother sewing;
- Improved tension settings;
- Less wear and tear on parts;
- Reduced thread breaks;
- Improved stitch pattern layout;
- Better embroidery detail;
- No backing problems.
You only need to use one sheet of this special backing. Simply place it behind your normal backing then frame up. After embroidery tear away all the excess.
Embroidery on PU coated nylon fabric, such as the type used on Hi Viz jackets can be notoriously difficult.
Says ETC: “Anyone who has embroidered these garments will know how difficult they are and this is due to the PU coatings melting due to the needle heat build up. The self lubrication backing prevents the PU sticking to the needle, thus resulting in a much improved stitch layout without all the needle and thread breaks.”
