News of the Royal wedding has been welcomed by industry body Promota. However, chief executive, Annette Scott, is urging caution over the use of photographic images of the Royals.
Says Ms Scott: “I would urge any promotional merchandise company to double check that they are adhering to the guidelines and restrictions for using images of the Royal Family to avoid being caught out.”
Ms Scott goes on to say: “The announcement of Prince William and Catherine Middleton’s engagement has the potential to create great opportunities for companies in the promotional merchandise industry.
“With the wedding expected in the summer next year, there will be countless requests for promotional items featuring the royal couple and could generate tens of millions of pounds for suppliers and distributors.
“Items such as commemorative plates, mugs, china, and key rings will be in high demand not just in the UK but all over the world, so this is really positive news for our industry!”
The PROMOTA secretariat team can assist members with compliance related issues.
