Distributors PenCarrie and UKL are to merge from January 1, 2011, it has been announced. In a letter to customers, joint managing directors Tony Lock and Tracy Richards said: “After careful thought and consideration, we believe the timing is right to join these two successful businesses together.”
Customers have been told: “This merger will bring a number of short term challenges, all of which we are working hard to resolve, so you remain as unaffected as possible.”
The key benefits, they say, will be:
- The largest product offering in the industry;
- Unrivalled marketing tools;
- Unsurpassed levels of stock, and
- Customer service teams in both Exeter and Swindon.
The newly merged company will be known as PenCarrieUKL.
Tony Lock and Tracy Richards go on to say: “We understand the current industry-wide stock issues and rising prices are affecting everyone. We are working hard with the brands to try and get stock issues resolved.
“As the UK’s leading multi brand business, PenCarrieUKL should be well placed to react as soon as the situation starts improving.
“Stock is paramount to our ongoing business strategy and we will strive to ensure that PenCarrieUKL presents one of the most comprehensive brand offerings supported by depth of stock in our industry.”
Any customers with concerns are being asked to email merger@pencarrie.com
Adds Tony Lock: “This is an incredibly exciting time for both parties as the combined business will offer the largest product offering in the industry.”
After UKL went into administration in March, the company was acquired by Carapace Ltd, which is owned by entrepreneur Paul Persey.
It was announced that going forward Carapace Ltd would be known as UKL Distribution Ltd.
Commenting on the acquisition at the time, Tony Lock said: “It is great to be working with the UKL management team assisting them to develop the loyal customer base by investing in stock and supporting the staff to service their customers. We are keen to maintain the two companies’ distinct identities within the market place."
Over the coming months details of PenCarrieUKL’s enhanced new collections will be sent to customers.
