Patrick Sanders, of Embroidery Digitising, who won the Best Embroidery category in this year’s awards. |
Have you got what it takes to be an award-winning garment decorator? We’re looking for decorating excellence as we announce our Printwear & Promotion Garment Decoration Awards 2011. Read on to find out how you can be part of this industry-leading initiative...
The garment decoration awards have traditionally been an extremely popular part of the Printwear & Promotion Show.
Last year, the awards – which were re-introduced after a year’s gap – attracted a record entry, giving our expert judges quite a task when it came to choosing the winners.
This year, we again have eight categories to choose from and the winning entries will be displayed for all to see at Printwear & Promotion LIVE! 2011, which takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, from Sunday, February 27 to Tuesday, March 1.
Printwear & Promotion editor, Debbie Eales, says: “There is a huge amount of garment decorating talent out there. These awards provide decorators with the perfect platform to showcase their talents, from embroidery and screen printing, to dye sublimation, direct to garment printing, transfer printing and some of the newer methods, such as rhinestone application.
“Last year’s judges were extremely impressed with the high calibre of entries and we are anticipating a bumper crop of stunning work for 2011.”
The categories for 2011 are:
Best screen print on a light garment
Best screen print on a dark garment
Best original design on any garment
Best direct to garment inkjet print
Best dye sublimation print
Best transfer print
Best embroidery
Best combined or other decoration
All entries must be received by Friday, January 14, 2011 as entries received after this date will not be accepted.
It is important that entries must have been designed and produced between January 2010 and January 2011 – and they must not have been previously entered into the Printwear & Promotion Garment Decoration Awards.
Adds Debbie: “A maximum of three entries per category, per company is permitted and entrants must remember to provide us with a detailed description of the techniques, machinery and materials used during production.
“We want to know if the design was originated by the entrant, whether it was produced using hand carousel/belt printer/mechanised carousel etc. Was the entry part of a production run or a one off? Which side would you like us to judge?”
This information is important as it will help the judges to do their work, adds Debbie.
Judging will take place prior to the exhibition and winners will be notified by Friday, February 11. The awards will be presented on Tuesday March 1 at Printwear & Promotion Live 2011 to those who are able to be present. Winners unable to attend will receive their awards by post to the name and address given on the entry form.
Remember that entries cannot be returned unless postage and packing costs are prepaid and return is requested at the time of entry.
