When first impressions count, choose Henbury
Published:  29 July, 2010

The Henbury label represents quality, innovation and care and all our styles have that extra special Henbury attention to detail which makes them stand out.

Henbury began in 1997 and the first collection was launched in January '98. Reacting to a gap in the market for a well designed range of quality polo shirts which met the required price bracket, Henburys initial polo’s took off and within 3 years the H100, 100% Cotton polo became the best selling cotton polo shirt in the UK corporatewear market.

Other products were added, including the 65/35 polyester/cotton pique polo, which is now the workhorse of the range. Further developments included woven shirts, trousers, knitwear, fleece and more recently, jackets which has now makes the range fully co-ordinated. Henbury have always tried to offer products that are different from the rest of the market by looking for opportunities that we feel we can advance.

After identifying another opportunity for ladies' T shirts, which no-one was making, although these were everywhere in the retail market, Henbury launched  Skinnifit. As the retail market evolved, the brand followed suit with different products in a variety of fabrics. Our best selling ladies' T shirt is the SK101, a 96% cotton and 4% elastane T that is also available in the men’s and children’s ranges. Skinnifit is much more fashion-orientated and appeals to a younger market thus much of it finds its way into retail.

In April 2007, Henbury had the opportunity to acquire Finden+Hales, Larkwood and Towel City. Re-inventing Finden+Hales with new products and a new direction has gone fantastically well and the brand continues to grow. In 2009 Henbury's portfolio increased dramatically with the addition of seven further brands which included Tombo, Front Row and Tour Collection.

Henbury is now a well-established brand in the UK, distributing through PenCarrie, Ralawise and Prestige Leisure and throughout Europe, with a very strong distribution in France and Germany, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Spain and Slovenia.

Henbury knows the importance of first impressions and with that in mind all our garments and products are designed to be decorated to promote your company logo to its best. We keep a close eye on market developments and strive to provide the styles, colours and fabrics that people need.

New for 2010 we introduced the Henbury Coolplus polos for men and women and these have been well received. Wicking properties are everywhere in sportswear and this feature translates well into workwear keeping the wearer cool and comfortable during any form of exertion. It is important to adapt to changes in the way we work, more and more inside service industry means less outside manual labour thus lighter weights are becoming more popular. We therefore introduced new lightweight knitwear in a response to the changing trend for more casual workwear, noting the preference for a smart knitted sweater rather than a jacket. The cotton/acrylic H720 and H721 are proving a popular choice for business wear and the smaller sizes are finding their way into the school market.

A continuing trend is for workwear to be available in women’s fit, not just small men’s garments and this is a trend we will be following for 2011 also. High street colours influence workwear more quickly and although navy remains the most popular colour many businesses are choosing more colourful alternatives. Luckily the best selling cotton polo, the H100, is available in 40 colours – so plenty of choice!
