The growing popularity of the hooded sweatshirt has enabled Gildan to bridge the gap between basic apparel and fashion. For 2010 Gildan now has six hoodie styles, with a garment to suit all budgets.
Gildan's four hooded garments are made in the same fabric to allow you to offer your customers choice. The 18500 hoodie comes in 26 colours. It has a double lined hood, twin needle stitching and is produced with air jet spun yarn which provides a softer feel and no pilling. This is complemented by the youth 18500B in 14 colours which is constructed in the same way minus the drawstring to abide by EU regulations.
If your customer would like a full zip hoodie then opt for the 18600 and 18600B. Both are fitted with a YKK zip which has overlapping fabric to allow you to produce that all important full chest print. Available in 16 and nine popular colours respectively the full zip range ensures customer satisfaction.
All of the four garments above are produced in a 270gsm 50/50 polyester/cotton making them hard wearing with exceptional colourfastness.
Moving up the scale, the 12500 Hoodie weighs an impressive 305gsm. Made from 50% cotton/50% polyester for durability and colourfastness, it is produced in air jet spun yarn and comes in 14 colours.
At the top of the Gildan scale is the 9500 Hoodie and at 325gsm it is one of the heaviest garments available to the promotional clothing industry.
Made from 80% cotton/20% polyester and available in 12 colours it would not look out of place in any retail store.
For 2010, Fruit of the Loom has added three new colours to the hooded sweat colour palette, bringing the total to 20.
Fashionable charcoal, bright orange and Kelly green pick up on colour trends in retail.
“Charcoal has the appearance of a washed-down black and will be of particular interest to customers servicing the music merchandise market,” Alison McKenzie, brand director comments.
The company’s hooded Ts boast similar styling and appeal to the hooded sweats, but are made from 100% cotton T shirt jersey fabrics – 160 gm/m2 for the men’s long sleeve hooded T and 125/135 gm/m2 for the Lady-Fit lightweight hooded T.
“The hooded Ts are a great alternative to the hooded sweats for warmer weather, and we’re also finding that people are layering them under sweatshirts and short sleeve Ts," adds Alison.
"They could have been made for music festivals and have huge potential in the street fashion and music merchandise markets. Hooded Ts are still something of a rarity in promo and we’re expecting demand to soar this year as our customers harness their sales potential.”
