Fruit of the Loom has introduced the new Girls Valueweight T and Kids Long Sleeve Valueweight T in response to the growing demand for a broader range of schoolwear options.
They fill important product niches, illustrating the company’s determination to provide a collection of good value, casual schoolwear.
The new Girls Valueweight T responds to the calls for more gender-specific schoolwear.
“Women like wearing clothes that are made specially to fit them, so it makes sense that girls would prefer schoolwear that has been designed to fit them too,” says Alison McKenzie, brand director. She adds that there aren’t many similar girls’ T shirt styles available in the schoolwear sector at present, so Fruit of the Loom customers have the opportunity to steal a march on their competition in the schoolwear market.
The new T shirt is made from Fruit of the Loom’s renowned 100% cotton Valueweight fabric, (160/165 gm/m2), which uses quality-guaranteed Belcoro yarns. It has a cotton/Lycra rib crew neck and features shorter sleeves and a smaller collar compared with the Kids Valueweight T, plus side seams with waist shaping for a flattering, comfort fit. There are eight colours available – black, deep navy, light pink, red, royal blue, sky blue, sunflower and white – and sizes range from 3-4 years to 14-15 years.
The Kids Long Sleeve Valueweight T is also introduced in response to customers’ demands and follows the launch of the Kids Long Sleeve 65/35 Polo last year.
“The new long sleeve style is a good choice for children in colder climates, and as an alternative to a short sleeve tee during the winter,” Alison McKenzie explains. “It is ideal for sports and also meets the needs of pupils who wish to cover their arms at school on religious grounds,” she adds.
Featuring set-in sleeves and cotton/Lycra ribbed crew neck and cuffs (which allow the sleeves to be worn pushed up the child’s arms), the Long Sleeve Valueweight T is made in the same fabric as the Girls Valueweight T and comes in black, deep navy, red, royal blue and white – and sizes 3-4 years to 14-15 years.
“Like all Fruit of the Loom schoolwear, the two new styles score ‘A’ grades for quality, consistency and durability. They are tough enough for life in the playground and the use of cotton/Lycra rib in key areas ensures excellent shape retention. Both styles are available in popular school colours and sizes to fit all ages up to 15 years,” Alison McKenzie comments.
The Fruit of the Loom Schoolwear collection is presented in the company’s Schoolwear brochure, (available on request from the Marketing team – marketing.imprint@ftlte.fruit.com), and on the Fruit at School section of the new Fruit of the Loom website. The website also offers a Create Your Uniform tool, which lets you upload a customer’s school badge or logo and view it on any of the Fruit of the Loom schoolwear styles for instant virtual sampling.
