It's been a busy few months for Europe's biggest embroiderer, Slick Stitch.
eBOS – the new electronic ordering system has been an outstanding success both customers and internal account managers, with positive feedback from all users.
The new version, launched in January, now offers an even quicker and more interactive experience.
An office block and staff canteen refurbishment were completed during December, resulting in a state of the art open plan office structure and a greatly enhanced working environment. A new two-storey staff canteen has also been added to accommodate the ever-growing staff numbers.
Two new managers have also joined Slick Stitch. Chris Billings, the new warehouse supervisor, has 10 years experience with a major Midlands-based distribution centre. His role will be to facilitate Slick Stitch's growing pick/pack/storage solution.
Dean Williams brings with him a vast amount of experience from the print industry. He will be responsible for the account management of Slick Stitch's small to medium-sized contract embroidery accounts.
Developments
Slick Stitch have helped several of their customers reduce or close down their in house embroidery operations over the last six months. This has helped customers reduce their own overheads and benefited Slick Stitch with increased production requirements. As a result, Slick Stitch has increased its production capacity with three new machines, in a staged delivery during January, February and March. It will take the total head count to more than 300 – a trend that looks set to continue in 2010.
Year ahead
Slick Stitch predicts that 2010 will be a significant year in the industry as a whole, according to managing director, Inder Jain.
"Those who invested in people and systems during 2009 will reap the benefits during the coming year," says Inder. "The company customers now expect more than just a supply and order relationship – they require constant feedback on order status and progress. Hopefully with our strengthened team and systems we should be in pole positions during 2010.
"Also with decreasing costs of pan European transport we predict that the volumes to sub continental customer will also increase from their current 15% level to 25%. We are currently in key discussions with major players in Germany and Italy where large reliable contract embroiderers don't exist."
