With many companies looking to reduce spend and having more of a focus on price, in recent months Regatta has been selling more low to mid priced styles. We have found that in general, industry prices are increasing and in a move to help customers, Regatta has frozen prices until the end of the year.
Technological advances have led to a huge improvement in fabrics in the last few years in terms of handle, drape and overall quality. Allied to this is the improved durability with a much greater tear strength ensuring Regatta garments now last even longer than previous years.
With added fabric coatings providing greater water resistance and breathability, jackets not only retain their quality longer but also offer a greater level of performance.
With more options and finishes available, a waterproof jacket can now look stylish and protect in equal measure. The twill microfibre Newman and Vertex jackets are good examples of using fantastic fabrics with a soft touch finish.
There has been a visible shift in recent years towards shorter style jackets. The sportier look and feel of these, allowing for greater range of movement, means that for both work and leisure, these are growing in popularity.
However, the largest single segment of Regatta's range in terms of style is insulated jackets.
A great way to add value to outdoor wear is to go down the route of the 3-in-1 layering system. This is an area of great strength for Regatta and is reflected in the growing range.
In offering the variation of an outer jacket, mid-layer or combination of the two, the 3-in-1 jacket provides fantastic value and flexibility. This area has been taken a step further and modernised by incorporating a softshell as the mid-layer for a contemporary, sporty jacket (Compound 3-in-1).
An extension of the 3-in-1 layering is the interactive ‘zip -in' system. Regatta offers single products that can be upgraded by adding an additional fleece to increase insulation. An example of this is the Gibson Jacket. This waterproof shell jacket has a double-zip system that allows the Thor fleece to be easily zipped-in this increasing the weather protection.
In the current economic climate, consumers are demanding greater value for money without compromising on quality.
Consumers are brand-savvy and relate to the Regatta retail range when purchasing outdoor wear in a work or promotional environment. The research and development carried out by the retail design team is directly communicated to the corporate team to ensure trends in fashion and new technologies are immediately incorporated into the corporate range where a team of dedicated designers and product teams ensure the range moves with the times and stays ahead of the competition.
Quality has never been more important as consumers look to ensure every penny has been well spent. It is not just the fabric quality but also the zippers, studs and fastenings that need to be of the highest quality. Regatta has a quality control team that ensures garments are checked throughout the supply chain and standards are set exceedingly high.
Finally, price is key. It is not about being cheap but about providing great value for money. Regatta has a great reputation of offering high quality, stylish products at surprisingly low prices. Fabrics and features normally associated with expensive products often come as standard. With Regatta, there is something to suit all tastes and needs, ranging from £5 to £40.
