Fruit of the Loom has extended its family of fleece outerwear with the launch of the sleeveless fleece.
The new style is made from the same 100% polyester fleece fabric (300 gm/m2) as the well-established full zip and half zip fleece jackets. This proven fabric is renowned for its warmth, comfort and breathability, along with its pill-resistant properties and exceptional durability. There are six fabric colours to choose from, (including bright orange and bright yellow), with sizes from S-XXL.
The sleeveless fleece has a raglan design which gives the garment a contemporary appearance, but also has practical benefits for the decorator: the seams on the front of the garment are positioned high on the body, between the armholes and collar, to ensure the maximum uninterrupted area for embellishment.
The full-length front zip is colour matched to the fleece fabric, as are the zips on the two side pockets. There is a matching herringbone back neck tape and the armholes also feature self-coloured binding. The hem and shoulder seams boast attractive cover stitching detail and the hem is finished with a good quality elasticated draw cord and stopper.
The popular full and half zip jackets have been updated to complement the modern design of the new sleeveless fleece. They also now feature raglan styling and have dispensed with the horizontal seam that previously ran across the body just above waist height. The cleaner, simpler lines and more decorator-friendly design have received an overwhelming ‘thumbs up' from Fruit of the Loom customers, according to the company.
As well as the revamped design, both fleece styles also now offer expanded colour palettes.
"Fleece outerwear continues to be as popular as ever. People are familiar with fleece and appreciate its proven combination of comfort, functionality and value for money. By updating our existing fleece styles and introducing the new sleeveless fleece, we have ensured that Fruit of the Loom customers have the right products, at the right price, to continue to win business in this profitable sector of the market," Alison McKenzie, brand director, comments.
Fruit of the Loom also offers three lighter weight micro fleece styles. The zip neck micro, (with half zip opening and zipped pocket on the left sleeve), micro Jacket, (with full-length zip and two side pockets), and the Lady-Fit micro jacket, (with shaped side seams, two side pockets and full-length zip opening) are made from 100% polyester pill-resistant microfleece, (250 gm/m2). The breathable, lighter weight fabric makes these garments comfortable to wear indoors, yet still provides plenty of insulation for wearing outdoors on all but the coldest days. The fabric's low pile makes it especially easy to decorate.
The microfleece styles project a younger, more fashionable look, compared with the more traditional, workwear-oriented fleece jackets. This is reflected in the finishing details, which include open cuffs and hem, self-coloured trim and the use of branded YKK zips.
