Russell brands bring style to menswear

Through their brands, Russell continues to bring new menswear styles to the market, with the focus being quality and comfort combined with retail styling. The increasing requirement for stylish garments drives menswear to follow womenswear trends for more individual garments, with fitted styling and quality fabric choice.

Russell Collection

This is most apparent in the new styles this year from Russell Collection. The new Ultimate Non Iron and Casual Roll-Sleeve Shirts are heavily influenced by retail trends. Made from 100% cotton, the Non Iron Shirt range, 956/957/958/959, is at the forefront of non-iron technology. More traditional methods include putting a resin coating over the fabric which results in a shirt with non-iron properties that only last so long and can be uncomfortable to wear at times. With these new shirts the raw fabric is treated with special vapours. The fabric is then allowed to dry, very slowly and naturally over a 24 hour period, enabling the vapour to be completely absorbed and embedded in the fabric. The shirts are also available in two men's styles; Ultimate Non-Iron (956/957) and the Tailored Non-Iron (958/959). The key difference is that the 958/959 tailored option has a stiffened, semi-cutaway boned collar to support the tailored fit.

Alan T Dibble, Design and Development at Russell comments: "Our development of the Non Iron Shirt range has been influenced by trends apparent in suiting over the past few years. The tailored look is visible everywhere and our new shirts allow companies to create that crisp, clean and modern image very much in demand. Our shirts are available in a classic and a tailored fit, flattering every body and enabling everyone to feel good all day long."

The Casual shirt range is spearheaded by the new Roll Sleeve Shirts, 918/919, available in male and female styles. These shirts have a soft-to-touch peached fabric, a relaxed collar and patch pockets on the chest with flap and button fastening. Buttons on the outer sleeve and fabric tab on the inside of the sleeves allow them to be rolled up and tabbed, perfect for the busy working restaurant, bar or office. The female range also has a fitted style, with shaping at the waist and bust and front and hem darts. Available in both men and ladies styles, long and short sleeves the colour range is also perfect for any shirt solution; with colours such as white, blue, zinc, khaki, French navy and black.

Dibble comments: "The Roll Sleeve shirts with patch pockets are and will continue to be a strong style in retail casual shirts. Our new shirts follow this trend, with adaptations such as the tabbed sleeves allowing them to be used in all environments."

Jerzees Colours

The Jerzees Colours brand also follows this lean, tailored theme with the introduction of the Intelligent Clothing Jackets range; true performance and styling combined. Developed with the style-conscious in mind, the intelligent clothing range has been designed for people who are outdoors come rain or shine and therefore need high quality, breathable and easy-care materials.

For activity, the stretch fabric Sports Shell 5000 (520M/F) is an ideal solution. It allows maximum body response, with articulated elbows for freedom of stretch and cool fit underarm panels. Extra features include MP3 inner pocket, 2 position adjustable cuffs and full breathable fabric, transferring moisture away from the inside of the jacket.

And for that little bit extra, the new Gore-Tex (550M/F) provides your team with the most durably waterproof, windproof and breathable garment available. With pre-shaped elbows for optimal freedom of movements and comfort, and adjustable cuffs keeping the cold and wet from entering the jackets, your customers will be kept warm, dry and styled. The roll away hood also allows your team to train, perform or work, no matter what the weather.

Dibble comments: "We have seen an increasing move towards active, performance jackets with a lean and styled fit. Our jacket range brings you fabric with the best performance attributes combined with true styling."

Additional Jerzees Colours menswear garments following this trend include T shirts and Polo Shirts. The 110M Fitted Crew Neck T shirt and 114M Fitted V-Neck T shirt have slightly longer body lengths and velvet trim on the back-neck (114M) for that extra special feel. A new addition to the T shirt range is the Zt150M/L, a lightweight T shirt (long and short sleeved) made from 100% ring spun cotton and available in a large colour range for every T shirt requirement.

The Polo Shirt range allows you and your customers to choose from the basic to the best. The 599M Ripple Collar & Cuff Polo Shirt is suitable for 60 degree wash and is ideal for that harder-wearing environment. The 539M Polo/Cotton Hard Wearing Polo Shirt has truly been tried and tested and with a more relaxed fit, provides your customers with a garment they can wash and wear again and again. For that something different, the 669M Micro Pique Cotton Polo Shirt comes in a modern colour palette and provides that bit of luxury.
