For 2009 UKL created a whole section of their brochure dedicated to Organic, Fair Trade and Environmentally Friendly products.
New to UKL for 2009 was Earth Positive - a "wholly ethical" textile brand that is certified under the Global Organic Textile Standard (by Control Union and Soil Association) and by the Fair Wear Foundation for ethical labour practices throughout its supply chain.
It is also, crucially, low carbon, having reduced the CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions by some 90% through the use of green renewable energy in its production - a claim verified by the Carbon Trust within its pilot carbon-labelling initiative.
The brand launched in the UKL brochure for the first time this year includes a range of T shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts and tote bags.
Another new brand for 2009, B&C, launched their sustainable Biosfair collection. This collection is 100% Fairtrade and 100% organic.
The certifications show entire traceability of the products, from the raw material to the finished garment.
The Bisofair Collection comprises a duo concept T shirt and polo shirt.
Fruit of the Loom added three styles of organic cotton T shirts to their range for 2009 for men, women and children. The weight is 140g and all are available in the natural colourway.
