In these difficult times the need to project an original image and to stand out from the crowd has become even more important than ever and that is exactly the business of Livingstone International, the bespoke arm of major distributor Prestige Leisure based in Livingston, near Edinburgh.
Indeed "Livingstone Originals" is the title of the concept created by Livingstone to describe what they do precisely because the products they produce are for original people and original companies.
Of course the biggest part of the printwear and embroidery trade remains stockholder supplied but increasingly there are customers looking for something more, something different or simply have a big enough bulk purchasing requirement on fairly standard products to warrant special purchasing and shipment with the cost benefits this can give. These areas are just where Livingstone comes in.
Enquiries are handled from either customer designs, descriptions or a sample and are then processed to a selected manufacturing partner or partners for counter costing and sampling. Lead times can vary with the time of year, the source location and the particular product type. Factories all have their peak seasons which have to be worked around; there is no hard and fast rule. The only certainty is the shipping time which has to be added to any manufacturing timescale. These lead times can be shortened at considerable additional expense in shipping so good advance planning is always the most economic approach.
Livingstone offices are located at the company's own factory in Pakistan, Bangladesh, China and in the USA where all orders and shipments are quality controlled and all aspects of shipping monitored. Price quality and delivery are paramount.
The company offers a very much "can do" approach with any type of enquiry handled on almost any kind of product, but specialising, not exclusively, in all things textile.
The advantage to anyone just moving into own product development is that Livingstone has already fallen into all of the pits and will make sure that their customers will not do the same!
