Lewis Print
Transfer options are proving a hit
Published:  05 June, 2009

Hereford based firm Lewis Print, now in their second year, have seen a substantial increase in demand for their specialist trade services since exhibiting at this year's Printwear & Promotion exhibition.

They offer trade customers a wide variety of products and services for personalising garments as well as promotional items.

Director Jimmy Lewis-Humbert has more than eight years experience in the industry and has worked for several promotional and sportswear companies.

He decided to establish Lewis Print to focus on offering trade services to embroiderers, screen printers, print shops, sportswear and workwear companies to name but a few.

A best seller is Lewis Print's range of bespoke transfers and numbers. Transfers come in four different types. UniTrans can be washed up to 90C, dry cleaned and tumble dried and is suitable for a wide variety of applications such as cotton, poly/cotton etc.

For nylon application try NylonTrans which is suitable for jackets, bags umbrellas etc. And for the sportswear market there is SportTrans which offers excellent washing properties and will prevent ink migration caused by 100% polyester garments.

Finally, there is the ColourTrans transfer which is great for full colour logos and photographic images from small detail to large back prints. It offers excellent washing properties and is competitively priced.

Customers can order transfers for application themselves or an in-house service is provided.

Said Jimmy: "I think the popularity of our bespoke transfers is down to several factors. It reduces the time and production limitations found with other garment marking processes; they are robust with excellent washing properties and we can produce corporate colours by matching to pantones."

For promotional garments and short runs Colourprint is available. This can be washed up to 60C and can be applied to cotton, poly/cotton, acrylic and nylon garments. Pre-testing is advised.

Pre-cut numbers have been a great success with companies producing sportswear. These are available in three stock colours (other colours available upon request) and come in packs of 10 per digit or in packs of one to 17.

Branded numbers are a new this year and they have been well received by companies looking to not only supply personalised sportswear, but develop their identity.

Reflective transfers that conform to BS-EN471, Table 5, Class 2 are another new product, with 33 ready made designs such as First Aider, Fire Marshall, Steward. Customised versions are also available.
