PenCarrie has numerous new golfwear styles to offer, all generating much interest. Major brands such as adidas, Ashworth, Callaway, and Glenmuir have refreshed their ranges either in part or almost entirely. There is a strong focus on the use of technical fabrics to help player performance; there are several new styles for women; and there are new golfing accessories available too.
Ashworth has 12 new styles for 2009 including a new wind shirt for women. The AW38 Ladies Nano-TexTM Doeskin Long Sleeve V Neck Wind Shirt is matched by the new AW36 for men (a short sleeve version for men is also available, coded AW37). Nano-TexTM fabric wicks away moisture and is water, stain and static resistant. In addition to the wind shirts, there are also new polo shirts, trousers, lambswool knitwear and a cap.
A dozen new styles from Callaway include eight which form the X SeriesTM collection. This comprises four polo shirts (one for women); two wind shirts; a full zip wind vest; and a zip neck micro fleece pullover. All benefit from performance fabrics. Callaway has also introduced a GORE-TEX® Performance Shell Jacket (CW53) and matching trousers (CW54), available as separates but ideally sold as a set. The brand's new CW55 Liner Waterproof Jacket and CW56 Liner Waterproof Trousers make up another useful combination.
The arrival of knitwear from adidas has had a good response, reports PenCarrie. The two 100% lambswool sweaters, both long sleeved, have Teflon® protection. AD35 has a crew neck and AD36 is V necked. A further two new styles from adidas, AD37 Climalite® Sweater Vest and AD10 ClimaCool® Solid Pique Polo Shirt, make use of the brand's own fabric technologies. Climalite® provides construction based moisture management, wicking moisture away from the skin to the fabric face for quick evaporation. ClimaCool® provides ventilation plus moisture management for the body.
Glenmuir's latest designs total nine. They include the GM34 Valderama Pique Polo Shirt made from mercerised cotton. The shirt has a soft, luxurious drape and anti-curl collar; and the mercerisation process adds lustre and vibrancy to the fabric. Another new style from Glenmuir is the GM56 Rain Bloc.® Light Waterproof Jacket. Here a waterproof laminated microfibre outer, which is both supersoft and lightweight, is combined with a lightweight breathable micro mesh lining. To summarise, it means the jacket is waterproof, breathable, ultralight and quiet. All are factors that can be important to serious players.
Golfing accessories provide more opportunities for decorators, either as add-on sales or as sales in their own right. New choices for 2009 include Ashworth's AW90 Cap and AW91 Sports Socks. Accessories from adidas include favourites such as the AD70 Performance 6 Panel Cap and AD81 Shoe Pouch. Quadra's QD360 Pro Golf Umbrella is another consistently popular purchase, according to PenCarrie. Lightning resistant, windproof and with a rubber golf grip handle, the QD360 comes in a choice of five colourways.
