In 1977, Barudan developed the first computerised multi head embroidery machine. It was to be a machine that would revolutionise the embroidery industry. During its 50-year history, Barudan has continued to successfully set the standard, and this year added a new single head machine to the range - the Elite Pro II.
Barudan has always held an unrivaled reputation for stitch quality and the advent of the servomotor provides that, but with additional power. The Elite has a capability of 1300 stitches per minute, (1000 stitches per minute on caps). So output and efficiency is increased from 14 -30%. Although faster, it is quieter than its predecessor. It's lighter too, just weighing in at 170lbs, making it a portable machine that offers great versatility.
Quality is key
Good equipment is a key ingredient in the success of any embroidery operation, says Baruan UK's general manager Dave Crabtree, who advises customers to invest in quality machinery from the outset.
"Machinery or software, no matter how good it is, is only as good as the support and training you get with it," he explains. "It is like buying the best car money can buy, but not knowing how to drive. It is our focus to give full support and training with all products you buy from Barudan UK.
"We pride ourselves in our commitment to customer service. With over 45 years' experience serving customers around the world, we have a tremendous amount of knowledge and are willing to share this to make your business a success. It's our objective to align ourselves with our customers as a partner in their future. Furthermore, all our machines leave our Nottingham headquarters with a full three-year warranty, giving our customers absolute peace of mind and confidence in our product."
Barudan has appointed software provider Wilcom as a partner and distributor for software solutions. Wilcom, like Barudan, is renowned for being an industry leader, which made it the software of choice for Crabtree. "We demand the best for our customers, never compromising on quality, and it is because of this we chose to work with Wilcom," he explains. "The stitch quality that the software produces compliments our machinery perfectly. It delivers quality and reliability that will give our customers the competitive edge they need in such a fierce market."
Barudan takes the same approach when it comes to the guidance and training it offers its customers. It believes that, unfortunately, when it comes to digitising there has been a dumbing down of what is a very technical process. "If a company makes an investment in embroidery software, at any level, it should be treated with respect it so deserves," says Crabtree. "There must be hundreds of people that can use embroidery software packages, but how many of those actually use the softwear to its maximum efficiency and potential and make the grade as a digitiser?"
Many software products are sold without the correct guidance and training, claims Crabtree, which can often lead to inefficiencies in the whole embroidery process. However, Barudan UK aims to give the correct guidance to clients that are serious about making the investment in software.
Software support
With this in mind, it has appointed a specialist digitising company to handle its software support. Embroidery Design Solutions (EDS) is a long serving independent digitising company based in Nottingham. It has always used Wilcom to output quality designs and is now Barudan's preferred choice for digitising. "Any sales person can sell software, but Barudan believes that who better to sell, train and support our customers, than a company which specialises in digitising and utilises the software every day?" says Crabtree. "EDS has built a reputation for producing quality digitised programs and this knowledge is priceless when it comes to training."
EDS was appointed as an authorised training provider on Wilcom's collection of software products earlier this year. The company has a dedicated, purpose built site where a team of digitisers can share their wealth of knowledge and experience with anyone wanting to take the leap into digitising. Having the full range of Barudan single head machinery, EDS believes that training should be given working between the software and machinery. Anyone can make a design look good on screen, but the secret is anticipating what will happen once the program is stitched on a tactile surface, it says.
Barudan's philosophy on software is the same as its promise on machinery: "We guarantee that any product that leaves our door will be fully supported by experts that care," it says.
"We are not about gimmicks, gadgets or fancy sales jargon," adds Crabtree. "We simply have an unprecedented range of quality products, that are supported by a team of knowledgeable personable support staff who are passionate and committed to the cause...the team works."
