Fast production, high resolution digital printing using ink jet technology
Published:  31 October, 2008

Screen-printing chemistry equipment provider Kaye-Dee has made its entrance into the digital world of printing by introducing the Kimoto Freejet 320 ‘Next Generation Flatbed Printer'.

Offering far more flexibility to produce varied and high quality prints than conventional printing techniques such as screen or pad (tampo) printing, the Freejet 320 uses an extended CMYKRB colour space with a resolution of up to 5760 dpi, allowing production of printed goods that was not possible before, said Kaye-Dee.

The system uses a solvent based pre-coating spray plus a mild solvent ink, which creates a scratch and abrasive resistant layer allowing a wide field of applications including plastic, metal, wood, foam and acrylic boards, marble and stone. A built in material table can be adjusted in height and the motorised table will automatically detect the thickness of the substrate by using an optical sensor. As the table does not move during printing, heavy pieces with a weight of up to 30kg can also be printed.

The printer is ideal for personalising many promotional items including golf balls, rulers, lighters and pens, said Kaye-Dee, as well as rigid substrates up to 120mm thick. "With a maximum print size of A3+ the possibilities of creating new business opportunities are endless," it added.

With simple operation and no RIP software necessary the printer can be linked to a pc using a USB printer driver. Preparing and printing images onto your products requires little set-up-time and can be achieved using many standard software applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Corel Draw, or even Microsoft Publisher and Word.

Kaye-Dee also supplies the full range of consumables required for print operation. These include eco solvent inks, pre coating sprays and cleaning solutions, including the Kdscreen Reclaiming Chemistry and Stencil range.

Produced in the UK by a leading manufacturer, the KDSCREEN range includes screen washes for efficient removal of all screen printable inks from all mesh types. KDSCREEN also offers a comprehensive range of direct stencil emulsions for use with manual and automatic coating applications.
