You might not have realised it, but summer is here, which means a slight break from the normal format for our August issue. Instead of the usual focus features, this month we bring you two sections of supplier profiles: one for garment suppliers and one for equipment and service suppliers. These are intended as a mid-year update and are a chance for the suppliers to let readers know what has changed since the start of the year and also what is planned for the remainder.
In the wake of the recent revelations about high street chain Primark and the problems the BBC uncovered within its supply chain, the BPMA takes a look at production standards (page 28) and stresses the importance of maintaining them to the highest levels (something Primark clearly was unable to do, despite its size). This is a timely reminder, as the current economic situation will undoubtedly increase the pressure on companies to cut production costs further.
There is also a feature on leading UK screenprinter NJ Screenprints (page 24) as well as the regular page from PROMOTA, and of course, Paul Stephenson's hilarious Postcards from the edge. Enjoy!
