M&R has received patents from France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain for 'Method and Apparatus and Platens for the Unloading of an Article from a Printing Machine.'
The patents cover key components of M&R's revolutionary Passport Automatic Textile Unloader. M&R's Passport is the first commercially viable automatic takeoff system for textile products.
Grippers on Passport's four retracting arms grasp the shirt (or other textile substrate) at four points and lift it straight up off the pallet, thereby minimising the chance of design distortion. Next, Passport draws the shirt away from the pallet and deposits it on the adjacent dryer.
The standard version of Passport works with all M&R automatic rotary textile presses and with most conveyor dryers, including M&R's Radicure and Sprint Dryers. Passport works with inline and side takeoffs, and features solid-state control panels and servo drives, and is fast, achieving cycle rates up to 100 dozen per hour.
M&R CEO Rich Hoffman, pointed out that 'One of the keys to M&R's success is the attention we have always given to developing cutting-edge products. We're always looking for ways to help our customers improve quality, increase productivity, and reduce labour costs, and Passport succeeds in all three areas. Passport helps prevent design distortion by lifting textile substrates at four distinct points simultaneously, something no single operator can do. Passport drives productivity with fast cycle speeds, and Passport saves on labour costs by reducing the number of people needed to operate the press.'
'It's gratifying to see our engineering efforts recognised by the patent offices of these European countries, and we are grateful for the awarding of these patents,' he concluded.
