The band were looking to increase the merchandise range while also including something more distinctive that could be offered to fans of the band. The concept included two factors, the distinctive 'chav' image that the band often feature, as well as a nod to the local football team Newport County, whose kits are made by Errea.

Errea GB Director Dave Reynish explained that the band and their management came to Errea with designs for a football shirt that they wanted Errea to make for them. Dave said, 'The shirt has a very old and basic design, shape and colour. We are quite pleased as they love it!'

The shirt has several features that are appropriate to Newport County, who play their football in the Dr Martens Premier South Division. The team's home strip is amber and although the club crest has changed over the years, the Goldie Lookin' Chain version features the logo along with the band's slogan "You knows it".

Elsewhere the main decoration includes a chain decoration around the shoulders with the crest as a medallion, the Errea logo, the band web address is featured as is the 'glc low tec' - which features on the website. All the decoration is by dye sublimation.

The shirt is being offered by both Newport County and by mail order, which Dave said, 'We are getting mail orders all the time for this shirt.' The shirt had a limited edition production of 500 pieces, but Dave admitted that he anticipated that 1000 shirts would be sold quite easily.

As well as the popularity of the shirt to fans of Newport County and Goldie Lookin' Chain, the shirt has also received publicity on the BBC website, Sky Sports' Soccer AM and ITV1's 'The Frank Skinner Show'.
