Today women want (and are demanding) to wear women’s clothes that are designed for, shaped for and tailored for women, and fashion plays as much of a role in this decision making process, says Henbury.
“Women, by nature, tend to care about their appearance and want to be seen to be keeping up with the trends and being aware of the shift in shapes and silhouettes. If they are requested to wear a uniform, a promotional product or a corporate image, women want to be given clothes that they are actually proud to wear.”
Henbury spotted the move towards specific ladieswear products many years ago and reacted with the launch of its ladies polo shirt in both the 100% cotton (H121) and 65% polyester and 35% cotton (H401). “These have continued to see great growth and an introduction of an XS in the Classic Cotton polo shirt has further enhanced the ladieswear offer,” says Henbury.
“Every year we extend our ladieswear range, offering not only ladies equivalents in the market leading Cotton Polo Shirt but also new styles specifically made for women, such as the Ladies Sleeveless Polo H122.
“Curves are always the hardest part to design for. With this in mind, we have developed the flat fronted chino to flatter and fit.” The trouser sits just below the waist and is available in navy and black, sizes 8-18.
There are now ladieswear products in all areas of the collection from polo shirts and woven shirts (H516) to the Classic Short Sleeve Oxford and lighter weight Pinpoint Oxford in short (H556) and long sleeved (H551) versions. There is also the Microfleece (H851) with interactive Showerproof Jacket (H831); flat fronted trousers (H602) and shorts (H606); and even a ladies’ leather belt to complete an outfit H900.
All the garments have been created to complement the menswear range, helping to achieve co-ordinated looks where required.
