LSi steps in with tool to reduce carbon footprint
Published:  01 April, 2007

Promotional products distributor LSi Gifts has taken a new approach to catalogue production aimed at reducing its carbon footprint. Using the CreateCatalogue tool from Industry Software, LSi can now produce personalised PDF catalogues that can be emailed out to individual customers as an alternative to the more traditional bulky paper catalogues.

The aim is to remove the burden of print costs, while simultaneously reducing the impact on the environment.

CreateCatalogue allows users of Industry Software applications to select the categories or product ranges of interest to their customer, and upload them into a full colour PDF catalogue with their own background and branding.

This can then be emailed out to customers, printed off or turned into an online catalogue, where products are linked to the company’s eCommerce site for easy ordering.

LSi md Lloyd Simpson said: “Ten years ago we were almost wholly reliant on our annual catalogue to get our products out there; while five years ago we all jumped on the eCommerce band wagon, which undoubtedly had a huge impact on the way we ran our businesses.

“Now CreateCatalogue allows us to occupy a middle ground between the traditional catalogue experience and a more modern, personal and interactive event.”

Using the tool had achieved “substantial monetary and environmental savings” for the company, and customers were pleased with the results, added Simpson.

“The technology reflects our commitment to providing the best service possible to our customers, while taking responsibility for reducing our CO2 emissions.”
