The Roland Academy is situated in an impressive purpose-built suite at the college’s Green Lane campus in central Walsall. It offers an unrivalled learning environment that includes high specification PCs running the latest design, production and RIP software, state of the art environmental control with air extraction and air conditioning, and a full suite of Roland imaging equipment including its latest digital printers and engraving systems, that will be updated regularly. All Roland Academy courses are taught by professional tutors from the college and experienced Roland DG staff.

The Roland Academy was officially opened by Roland DG (UK) Ltd’s Managing Director, Jerry Davies, and Chris Ball, CEO and Principal of Walsall College, at a VIP champagne reception.

During his dedication speech, Jerry Davies, Managing Director, Roland DG said, “As a manufacturer of printing and imaging systems, we know that using them to their full capability requires significant and serious training - much more training than can be delivered in a standard post-installation training session. Our considerable experience shows that training needs to be delivered regularly and by skilled educators in an environment that is conducive to learning, at a time and pace that is suitable for the trainee. Every other approach is potentially a costly compromise. Dark classrooms and the droning of uninspired tutors have been firmly banished to the past. As you will have seen today - the facilities and equipment here at the Roland Academy are amongst the best in the world and the trainers are both notable industry specialists and professional educators. The Roland Academy has been created in collaboration with other leading industry companies and under the guidance and support of Walsall College (who themselves have had measurable success in educating the sign-makers of the future). Our intent is clear - to deliver a broad curriculum of consistent and relevant training for the sign and graphics industry - at all levels - from absolute novice to experienced industry professional.”
