ASBCI & Director-e line up major conference

The ASBCI has joined forces with the UK’s leading on-line corporate clothing, workwear, PPE and textiles title, Director-e, to organise a sector specific conference for the career and workwear industry. The conference, entitled ‘Clothing the Workplace,’ will be held at Mottram Hall, Mottram St. Andrew in Cheshire on Tuesday 24th October 2006 from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

The conference will platform speakers from some of the largest and most influential customer, supplier and research organisations in the work, corporate and technical clothing sector. These will include Bureau Veritas CPS UK, Carrington Career & Workwear, the DTI, DuPont Personal Protection, John Lewis PLC, London Fire Brigade and Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service, Malcolm Ball Associates, W.L. Gore & Associates (UK), Simon Jersey, Syscom PLC, The Woolmark Company, the University of Leeds and more.

Speakers have been asked to clarify the ‘global’ sourcing scene, ‘must know’ standards, design imperatives, buyer priorities and latest innovations currently shaping the corporate clothing, workwear and PPE industry. Key note speakers will include Susan Tucker, business dress manager for John Lewis PLC who will give a presentation on what buyers really want and how she identifies the ‘right’ supplier. Other subjects addressed will range from wardrobe management and colour communication through to standards updates on EN471 and EN343, global sourcing hotspots, quotas on imports and the current status of smart and interactive textile developments. The cost of the one-day conference is £155, excl VAT, to ASBCI members and £180, excl VAT to non-members.
