Julian completed the takeover from previous owner Geoff Wheatcroft who has chosen to retire. Marathon is a well-established brand in the UK, offering a range of rayon, polyester and metallic threads as well as a selection of embroidery consumables.

Julian said, 'I was obviously disappointed not to be able to buy Macpherson's thread business, but Marathon - like Macpherson - has a very good reputation for quality products and service. The Marathon staff are very experienced in the embroidery industry and know exactly what they are doing, so it's a great foundation to build on.

It's really good to be back in the business so quickly and I hope we can continue relationships with many of the embroiderers who we've supplied over the years.'
