Following the company's move into administration earlier this year, the various sections of Macpherson were subsequently auctioned and Somac were the winning bidders of the consumables division. The range was named Vital Link and consisted of various embroidery tools and resources that embroiderers need.

The two thread ranges - Kingstar polyester and the Royal rayon were bought by Somac along with a collection of non-woven backings and pre-wound bobbins. The company is also now offering the various ranges of scissors and needles that were previously available in the Vital Link range.

Along with the consumables range, the company has also taken over ownership of Macpherson's telephone line and website, meaning that if you dial Macpherson direct or visit the website, you will be redirected to Somac to purchase the same products as before.

Somac Threads are a 27 years old family business who trade on the importance of service and quality of its products. The company supplies to a variety of markets alongside garment decoration, which it is making an impact into in 2006 following a successful introduction at this year's Printwear & Promotion exhibition. The company employs five full time sales representatives on the road across the UK.
