The popularity and availability of digital transfer systems has never been greater. An Xpres transfer system can either provide the foundation for a new personalisation business, or makes a perfect add-on business opportunity for existing garment decorators.
One of the most significant recent developments has been the introduction of the GX-24 cutter. With a contemporary aluminium finish, the GX24 is Xpres’ fastest cutter yet and features a new digital servo motor giving smoother and more accurate cutting. Offering an increased range of pressure settings, the GX-24 is supplied with Cut Studio software and is Apple Mac compatible.
The GX-24 is central to the Xpres Cut system that produces single and multi colour heat transfers for clothing, but is also a key component of the best selling Ultragraphics system. Combined with the popular Ultragraphics system, the GX-24 cutter will produce durable and photo quality full colour transfers for clothing and gifts.
For 2006, the Ultragraphics package is available with three printer options. The most popular choice is an inkjet printer, which is combined with Durabrite inks and Xpres Ink Jet Dark transfer paper. This process offers superior print quality and resulting transfers are incredibly easy to apply to both cotton and polyester garments. Ink Jet Dark can also be washed at 80°C, so it is it ideal for workwear, corporatewear and sportswear applications.
Another development in printing and cutting is the addition to the range of the Roland Versacamm. This wide format printer and cutter is extremely versatile, and offers solutions to both garment decorators and sign makers. The Versacamm rapidly prints designs on to either wide media Ink Jet Dark or sign vinyl allowing the decorator to easily produce higher volume runs.
Once the process is complete, the decorator simply weeds the remaining vinyl and then peels the transfers from the backing sheet. For garment decoration, the transfers are placed on the desired garment and heat pressed for the appropriate time.
Enhancements to the sublimation package for 2006 have seen the introduction of a new Epson printer, the R1800. Usually supplied with an ink feeder system for improved margins, the R1800 can print A3 and A4 sublimation transfers and has four times the speed of the 1290 that was previously offered. This is beneficial to decorators who are looking to produce large logos for sublimation application where the printing would have previously taken substantially longer than is now possible, with no loss of colour or design as a result of the enhanced speed.
Xpres has also recently extended its range of cuttable transfer materials. There is now a choice of two grades of flock – premium or promo. Offering a superior raised texture, flock is suitable for cutting fine detail breast pocket and large chest logos.
It is particularly popular for applying to sweatshirts, fleece jackets and caps. As the name suggests, premium flock is ideally suited for application to more expensive garments whereas promo flock is perfect for those customers on a tighter budget but seeking a superior finish.
Nylo Flex is a new material for imprinting nylon items and is easier to cut, weed and apply than the established Nylo Cut vinyl. Available in 25 colours it is ideal for decorating nylon jackets, bags and umbrellas.
