On course for style

After 12 months of change and redevelopment from a management change, Visionstyle Leisure has re-launched its range with new styles for 2006. Dan Raywood learnt more about it.

Whether you are on or off the course, it is important to accessorise to the level where you look the part and feel comfortable in what you are wearing.

Following a management change in early 2005, Manchester-based Visionstyle Leisure (a division of Milian Limited) has re-introduced a range of quality headwear to suit every style and need. With an expertise in the manufacture of headwear merchandise for a major Formula One team and several major golf brands, the company is able to offer a wide range of caps and ski hats in a choice of technical fabrics.

The leadership change was a result of the old company going into administration at the end of March 2005, and bought out by the current owners only 22 days later. The change was so seamless in the eyes of customers that commented on how they hadn’t even realised that anything had changed.

Sales Director Ian Wilson said, ‘There’s a lot of positivity about the future of the company under the leadership of myself and Milton Wimpenny (Managing Director) and a lot of staff are actually asking to come back and work for us.

‘We’re a young management team with a new start and we’re very ambitious, productive and positive.’

Following the change, the company saw the opportunity to introduce a new range of products and offer the promotional industry a range of headwear that met the needs of all decorators. Ian explained that other brands often met a certain niche or requirement, but Visionstyle was aiming to overstep this and offer a complete service.

As a result, a choice of blank options is offered in higher quality, with an economy range available for those buying on price for a short or single use promotion. A contact embroidery service is offered across the entire range, with in-house digitising and 60 embroidery heads working two shifts to ensure fast and efficient decoration.

The current offering, and raise in profile over the past 12 months, has seen the Visionstyle Leisure team work very hard according to Ian. The level of business meant the company worked straight through Christmas for the first time in nine years.

A total of 11 new styles have been introduced for 2006, including caps made from 100% brushed cotton twill, 100% regular cotton twill and 65/35 polyester/cotton twill.

Offered is the VS23 tactel cap, which is manufactured from microfibre that offers a completely different option to the promotional market.

This style is windproof, showerproof and breathable with a peached finish. It features a technical fabric developed by DuPont to ensure its quality and consistency, as well as comfort to the wearer.

Ian explained, ‘We were using this fabric in styles for our corporate customers and we decided that it would be an interesting and alternative option for use in the promotional range.

The tactel hat is great, as far as we’re concerned it really is the best thing in the market at the moment.’

Another addition is the VS24 six-panel nylon sports cap that features a low profile shape. Manufactured from a nylon-otterman weave with a fine P.U. coated inner, the cap is showerproof and features a self-fabric back and buckle. This style is available in a choice of black and navy and the alternate fabric gives decorators a real choice for appearance and feel.

As well as headwear, Visionstyle also provides for the golfwear market – with a wide range of umbrellas and golf towels offered. The umbrellas come in a range of colours and styles to suit your needs, and all can be decorated via sublimation, screenprinting and via other various transfer methods.

The VS62 luxury velour golf towel features a tri fold construction and is made from 480gsm premium cotton and has a handy brass hook and ring. This style is available in a choice of eight colours and is ideal for flag-based decoration.

A new golf towel for 2006 is the VS64 ‘Fast-Dri’ microfibre, that also features a tri-fold construction and a microfibre waffle weave, so it is quick to dry when being used and easy to clean and dry afterwards. Made from 100% polyester, it is available in a choice of navy and black.

With new times comes new opportunity, as Ian says himself, ‘We still think we have so much to achieve but in a short space of time we have already achieved so much.’
