With new offerings to the garment decoration industry, including a step into the engraving market, Dan Raywood caught up with Grafityp to learn about new developments.
Grafityp has been one of the major names in transfer and digital technology over the past few years, with supplies made to sign makers and garment decorators among others. This supply has ensured that Grafityp has needed to keep ahead of its competitors with constant new developments.
Grafityp has increased its product range in the textile industry. This year the company has taken on the distribution of the Orange Print & Cut Jet MLD 30 & 54 and also increased their already extensive range of Laser Engravers by introducing the new Laser Engraver, the Laserpro Explorer 2.
The Explorer 2 offers a new concept to the decoration market, as it will laser engrave on to a variety of surfaces including signs and textiles. This opens up a whole new incentive to decorators, who will be able to offer decoration by laser engraving on to these two popular consumable surfaces. Along with a choice of textile surfaces, the Explorer 2 can engrave on a variety of surfaces including glass, wood, signage materials, stone/tile, acrylic and is also capable of producing ‘real’ 3D engraving.
The Explorer 2 features a 38’ x 20’ extended work area, with a table size of 40.5’ x 22.8’ x 6.5’ that allows for oversized tasks and has an operating speed up to 80 IPS. It features QSM (quality speed management) technology that maintains a 100% engraving quality while operating at maximum speeds.
The QSM redefines the correlation between speed and quality that allows users to work at maximum speed with compromising output quality. This higher working speed and innovative technology ensures that users can practically double their production rate.
The Explorer 2 has many other features including SmartACT motion control technology that shortens the ramping process by cutting down the distance travelled in each raster pass, which increases productivity. DC servo motor ensures precise rapid movement of the laser carriage. With a front and back door, the Explorer accommodates work pieces of infinite length.
The Explorer 2 comes standard with a patented auto focus gauge that instantaneously calculates the precise distance between the laser optical lens and working surface. By simply pushing a button, the auto focus technology eliminates any human-error in tasks when the sharpest, finest and most accurate output is required.
Also featured is SmartACT motion control technology, state-of-the-art carriage motion and laser control technology that shortens the ramping process by cutting down the distance travelled in each raster pass. This shorter distance travelled translates into shorter cycle times and higher productivity, enabling SmartACT that increases the engraving area to 38’ x 20’.
An optional extra is a SmartMEMORY Module that allows you to easily save and recall your unfinished tasks without having to retransmit your image and laser settings from the computer. The module is also removable for conveniently transferring a job from one machine to another.
Also offered in a similar style is Grafiflex Day-Glo, a range of fluorescent vinyls for high impact text and graphics on textiles that is perfect for application on to fabric surfaces that you want to be noticed. This vinyl is available in five colours and a range of sizes options.
If you are looking for a vinyl that is less specific for certain fabrics, the Grafityp SA flex is also new this year. This is described as being good for fabrics such as cotton, polyester and acrylic mix, while other vinyls will be more specific for the suitable fabric application this should solve a lot of problems for decorators. The SA flex vinyl is available in a choice of 25 colours.
