British Promotional Merchandise Association chairman, Gill Thorpe, shared her vision for 2010 at the trade body's annual Christmas lunch at the Guoman Tower Hotel, London on December 17.
More than 190 members and guests attended and helped to raise £6,230 for Different Strokes, a charity which helps stroke survivors.
Gill Thorpe said 2009 had proved challenging for business and there had been casualties among distributors and suppliers.
She went on to detail the bpma involvement with LOCOG (London 2012), Sedex and the Ethical Trade Initiative and a joint event is planned in March.
The organisation, has attained ISO9001 and UK Trade & Investment ATO status, while the bpma academy had organised two graduations in 2009 with 42 distinctions.
Thorpe told guests that the association's involvement with Trade Only, Pro 10 and the recently formed Incentive & Promotional Marketing Live Show will be a major part of the year.
“One thing that will make our market even stronger and more robust is open, honest partnerships – it’s not about them and us. It’s about us as an industry, working together, fairly to win business, deliver quality products and services to the ultimate customer," she said.
"If we expect our suppliers to support us with the trade exclusive service we need to respect and support them in order to protect the channel and structure of our business for the long term future,” added Thorpe.
