Blue Max has donated 2,000 T shirts for the benefit of injured troops in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
The T Shirts were provided after the company was approached by one of its customers, Martin Greenland from LogoWear Ltd.
Martin and his wife Sue have a 20-year-old son, Dan, who is a front line infantry soldier with The Royal Anglian Regiment who deployed to Helmand Province in October.
Through a good friend Martin and Sue became aware of a way they could help the troops.
“When troops are admitted to hospital with a major injury, their kit has to be removed,” said Martin. “The soldiers keep all their personal kit at the forwarding bases from which they operate. But due to the environment it is not always possible to get their own personal belongings to them for a number of days.”
Martin and Sue wanted to supply some form of clothing for the injured soldiers to wear.
Martin has been a customer of Blue Max for about 15 years, and knows the owners, the Fawcus family, well.
Though Martin had a target of 200 T shirts he was totally blown away when 2,000 T shirts were pledged by Blue Max without hesitation.
“When Martin contacted us, we were delighted to help out,” says Mary Fawcus. “We have great admiration for our boys and girls, and owe them enormous thanks for what they are doing for our country.
“Though Blue Max has grown substantially since our humble beginnings 22 years ago into a multi million pound turnover company, we are committed to retaining our strong family values,” continues Mary. “When we heard from Martin, we acted immediately and will continue to see what we may do to help.”
The T Shirts have been despatched to Helmand Province via SOS, a non-political charity.
