In the mid 1960s a breakthrough was made that allowed people to image products with the use of a paper covered with absorbing polymers to which ink can adhere. Little changed until around four years ago when the development began with new polymers by our research and development team at Neenah Papers in Wisconsin.

Since then we have been at the forefront of most of the development of transfer materials across the globe and continue to break new barriers as we move forward.

Photo-Trans Image Clip Laser Heat Transfer Paper was launched by us in 2007 as the first self weeding heat transfer paper which eliminated the heavy hand of a polymer-window and the need for the plotter cutter path.

In 2008 we launched our second Image Clip Heat Transfer Paper for Ink Jet, which allows for exceptional transfer of pastels and light colours. The market response has been very positive, but the overwhelming request is "great, but do you have it for dark fabrics?".

Between 2007 and 2009, our research scientists continued to explore and investigate chemistries for both a quick and easy way to create self-weeded transfers for dark garments. Some of the iterations required complex manufacturing processes to produce and equally complex processes to make the transfer. The goal we had, based on customer feedback, was a simple application process; no more than three steps, with reliable reproduction and affordability. The WOW Factor for the transfer market has finally arrived.

Introducing EZ204 Image Clip Laser Dark Heat Transfer Papers

Image Clip Laser Dark makes it possible to create, decorate and sell personalised products onto dark fabrics and substrates. The more profitable and high end art demand is for dark shirts and other garments. Image Clip Laser Dark applies an opaque layer to allow the colours to be true and bright.

Image Clip Laser Dark is the easiest to use self weeding product for dark fabrics and surfaces with just two heat press steps.

The easy process is:

1. Print a mirrored image on the imaging sheet.
2. Marry the transfer sheet to the imaged sheet then peel the sheets while hot.
3. Transfer the imaged sheet to the garment and remove the sheet when cool.

Art containing areas of white are not the best choice for this product, but all other colours including pastels work very well. Choose a light grey or slightly off white to produce white areas. Where a toner can be laid an image can be created.

Other useful applications

While working on this Holy Grail of all problems we also turned up another useful application for our transfers.

Image Clip Koncert T's is our second self-weeding paper for dark fabrics. It can be used to provide white lettering, numbers and a whole host of graphics on dark coloured fabrics. The process is also quicker, easier and cheaper to run than traditional CAD methods

This product satisfies the needs highlighted by several of our largest commercial consumers for identifying concert schedules on promotional T shirts and replacing white vinyl lettering on work and team wear.
