Handing over the clothing and safety footwear to Chris Lacey, the college's head of technology, Dickies' sales and marketing manager Maurice Morton said: "We are delighted to sponsor the college in this way as not only do we welcome the opportunity to give some practical help in these tough economical times, but also, we hope that when it's time for the students to turn professional or become teachers themselves, they will remember the Dickies name."

One of the projects on which the smart, newly clad staff are involved in teaching is called ‘Formula Student' which is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and promotes careers and excellence in engineering by training students to design, build, develop, market and compete as a team with a small single-seater racing car.
