New to the range are matching ladies' waistcoats in long and mid lengths and ladies' fashioned pullovers in charcoal, black and dark midnight are coming soon.

Mike Carden, who, with Ian Pollard runs the Rannerdale office (Balmoral's sales and marketing arm in the Lake District), says: "We've been astonished by the success of the fashioned knitwear. There is a real demand for it. What makes it different is that Balmoral have special machines - the only ones in Britain - which can make fashioned knitwear using tough all-needle fabric. It's unique and perfect for ladies' business or uniform styles."

Mike says the styles are expanding out of corporatewear now.

"We can buy in yarn in other colours to make bespoke shades and bespoke styles," he continues. "That's fantastic for corporate contracts of course, but a new twist is golf clubs buying into their own shades for ladies. You name the colour and we can match it - though there might be a minimum dye lot. Phone me, and I'll work out what that would be."

The new stock styles are made in Teflon-treated merino wool/acrylic which is both water and stain repellant.

However, the new styles can also be made to order in Nanotech-treated 70% wool/30% nylon.

The high wool content makes the garment warm, while the nylon makes it strong and the Nanotech gives it a soft handle and tremendous resistance to water, stains, smells and dirt.
