Printwear & Promotion has been alerted to an alleged business directory scam after an advertiser received an invoice for more than 1,000 euro from Expo-Guide.com, part of a Mexican organisation called Commercial Online Manuals S de RL de CV.
Expo-Guide targets trade show exhibitors, sending them official-looking letters and pre-printed application forms, seeking payment for appearing in their Expo-Guide.
In one case that we were alerted to, the application form - received in December last year - related to a listing for the Printwear & Promotion Exhibition in Birmingham this Spring.
Printwear & Promotion publisher, Datateam Ltd, wishes to distance itself from Expo-Guide and urges anyone who has received an application form or invoice from Expo-Guide to ignore it.
Printwear & Promotion publications manager, Richard Smith, said: "Expo-Guide had no authority to use our name or to target our exhibitors. Our advice to anyone who has received similar correspondence from Expo-Guide is to ignore it and to contact their local trading standards department. Certainly do not part with any cash."
