American digital specialists Spartanics has recently expanded into Digital Die Cutting and told Printwear & Promotion about what it offers.
Spartanics has announced that it will be the new manufacturer of Klemm Laser Cut Systems for Digital Die Cutting, as well as co-ordinator of the worldwide sales and service organization for the new Spartanics Klemm Laser Cut Systems.
This technology transfer enables Spartanics to provide its worldwide customers in the graphic arts, packaging, nameplate and ID graphics, abrasives, labels, adhesives, and other industries the most optimized solution for their high precision die cutting production challenges.
Tom Kleeman, Spartanics CEO explains that printers, packagers and others in need of high precision die cutting capabilities will find this a perfect marriage of the well-respected German engineering expertise with Spartanicsâ well-known capabilities in machine controls, software and optics engineering, and detailed familiarity with the types of production challenges faced by its customers in the graphic arts, converting, nameplate, label, and related industries.
Mr Kleeman said, ‘Like all Spartanics equipment, the Spartanics Klemm Laser Cut Systems feature a modular design for the ultimate flexibility that facilitates customisation for any customer applications. Moreover, the new Spartanics Klemm Digital Die Cutters deliver consistent registration accuracy within 0.1 mm, without any sacrifice in speed and production output, just as the Spartanics optically-registered M500 Decorated Material Die Cutting Systems do.
‘By adding these tool-free die cutters to Spartanics repertoire, and especially because they give our customers new capabilities to die cut (kiss cut, mark, perforate, etc.) a wider range of materials including adhesives, abrasives, polycarbonates, wood, among others, Spartanics is able to find best-in-class solutions for any high precision production-volume die cutting challenge.’
Bill Knotts, Spartanics VP Sales and Marketing, added, ÔSpartanics now offers tool-based and tool-free die cutting systems. If one requires a complete job turnaround within hours based on digital printing combined with digital die cutting, we have the best solution possible.
‘Or, if one needs to be able to alternate hard tooling with steel rule dies, we have the best solution possible. Basically, the combined Spartanics and Klemm Laser Cut System engineering expertise gives graphic arts, packaging, label manufacturers, ID graphics and other firms more than seven decades of engineering experience to draw on to solve their production challenges.’
Spartanics Klemm Digital Die Cutters operate at speeds up to 600 m/minute and feature the most tightly controlled laser beam technology available in galvanometers, and unique, proprietary software that automates controls on laser power and scanning speed for unparalleled control in laser cut quality.
The 0.5 mm hole size, easy-to-use intuitive Windows-based software designed for operators without CAD expertise, and the intelligent system for beam shaping, are some of the Spartanics Klemm Digital Die Cutting System features that make it best-in-class technology. Spartanics Klemm Digital Die Cutting Systems come with a wide array of options for scrap removal, and can be configured for sheet-fed or coil-fed operations.
The company also offers Applications Analysis for High Precision Die Cutting. The no-cost and no-obligation Applications Analysis service is available to Printers and Converters who are considering options for high precision die cutting at production speeds to help them determine best-fit technology solutions.
Spartanics offers printers and converters a wide range of die cutting solutions based either on electro-optical technology (Spartanics M500 Decorated Material Die Cutting Systems) or laser-based digital die cutting technology (Spartanics Klemm Digital Die Cutting System).
Spartanics is now offering the Applications Analysis service in order to help printers and converters quickly determine if tool-free or tool-based die cutting is appropriate for their application, and ways in which input and output modules for selected die cutting technology can be added to maximize production efficiency.
Bill Knotts says that the new Spartanics Applications Analysis service is actually a formalization of services Spartanics has provided to printers and converters for quite some time. He comments, ÔWe have been able to save companies considerable time and money by helping them to quickly zero in on the type of die cutting technology options that are available. Spartanics has equipment for both tool-free and tool-based high precision die cutting at full production levels, and decades of experience helping other printers and converters to maximize their finishing department efficiencies.
‘By using this free-of-charge Applications Analysis service, printers and packagers can master the pros and cons of different technology options relatively quickly.’
Spartanics Klemm Digital Die Cutting Systems are tool-free, laser-based galvanometer die cutting technology. Spartanics M500 Decorated Material Die Cutting Systems use either hard tooling or steel rule dies. All Spartanics die cutting technology options provide high precision of +/-0.1mm in cut-to-print registration, and are based on modular designs that facilitate easy customization for varying job requirements.
Spartanics die cutting technology is available for most substrates that printers and converters might use - from polycarbonates, to metal, to magnets, to abrasives, to adhesives, to paper and paper laminates, other plastics, cloth, etc.
Spartanics are based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, USA and are engineers and manufactures of a range of automated equipment for die cutting, automated handling, and counting used by global graphic arts and packaging firms, among others.
Its worldwide service organization also maintains offices and spare parts in the UK. To place orders or for other product inquiries, please contact Scott Edwards, Sales Administrator, Spartanics by email on : sales@spartanics.com or visit the website at www.spartanics.com.
