Viper increases output and raises the bar
Published:  05 May, 2009

Direct to product ink jet printers have been around for a few years now but few companies have committed themselves to research and development like DTG.

They have continually pushed the boundaries with innovations that have driven this type of machine from ‘new' to ‘mainstream' in a very short period.

They are arguably the only company to supply such a wide and diverse selection of machines offering a product for most eventualities.

Their distributor in the UK, Your Embroidery Services Ltd, have complemented this work by sourcing high quality peripheral equipment, such as heat presses and spray guns, ensuring that customers have the best opportunity to produce quality work at a competitive price each and every time.

YES Ltd have worked closely with DTG in carrying out much of this ground breaking development work and the partnership has now resulted in more new models.

The Viper is aimed at increasing the output of the tabletop style of machine. It can take, depending on size, numerous printing pallets at one time. For example, it will take three standard t-shirt platens at once and by using a conveyor style system the platens/shirts can be changed while the machine is still printing. This continuous process results in impressive production figures.

The Viper also features a new type of CMYK ink delivery system which uses pressure to ensure a smooth and steady flow guaranteeing quality prints each and every time. It also has on board the new WIMS (White Ink Management System) which uses a completely different method of controlling the white ink which results in a more consistent yet more economical usage of ink.

The Viper will definitely raise the bar where the small footprint machine is concerned.

Also on the horizon is a new style "conveyor" model and a new way of pre-treating the garment. Pre-treating must be done when printing onto coloured fabrics so that the white ink can form a sound base for the CYMK.

Traditionally this has been done using a spray gun but the word is out that DTG have developed a new method that will make the whole process not only more consistent but also more economical. Industry insiders expect something radically different that will make direct to product ink jet printing easier, more productive and more economic.
