The new B181 Coolmax© Performance Cap, the latest addition to Beechfield's Sport Collection, should be your first choice for any fitness activity, according to the brand.
"It has everything you could possibly want from a sports cap," says Beechfield's Roger McHugh, drawing particular attention to the cap's fit. "It's often the small details that make a headwear design really work and in this case it's the construction of the size adjuster," he explains. "If you're running or involved in energetic exercises it can be difficult to make a cap stay on your head. You can try pulling the size adjuster strap extra tight, but that is likely to cause headaches and is far from guaranteed to work, as the cap will eventually work loose."
Beechfield's solution is to use a small piece of elastic material to attach the plastic loop, which the Velcro size adjuster strap passes through, to the back of the cap. This gives a small amount of essential stretch. "Introducing some stretch in this area has allowed us to cut the cap slightly smaller than usual for a closer fit, and keeps the cap in place without causing the wearer to suffer from head pains," Roger explains. "It's so simple, yet extremely effective."
The B181 also scores highly on its use of performance fabrics. Beechfield has opted for a combination of 100% nylon Taslon outer, which is water-resistant and breathable, with a moisture-wicking 100% polyester Coolmax© fabric sweatband, plus mesh ventilation panels at the cap's sides. "Staying cool and comfortable whilst exercising is central to the enjoyment of any fitness activity," Roger McHugh suggests. "On a sunny day, in particular, the cap will provide welcome protection against the sun, shielding the person's eyes from glare and shading the head and face to reduce the risk of sunburn. Simultaneously, the Coolmax© sweatband will soak up any perspiration and wick it away from the skin, helping to keep the person cool and dry. The side ventilation panels will help with the cooling process by ensuring a flow of air to the head and allowing heat to escape."
The side ventilation panels, in white mesh, also enhance the B181's sporty looks. The mesh, which is visible through the openings at the sides of the cap, contrasts with the nylon Taslon outer (available in a choice of Black, Red or Royal). Vertical white stitching detail at each end of the openings provides a tasteful finishing touch, whilst the cap's swooping central panel (running uninterrupted from front to back) affords maximum embellishment potential.
