Staff at textile designer and manufacturer RTG International went without food for a day to raise money for the starving in Niger, Africa.
The challenge began at 7pm on Sunday 7th August and was completed 24 hours later. Participants were allowed to drink during the task but only water was allowed.
RTG Marketing Manager Claire Burlison said, ‘We originally planned to have a collection but decided that a sponsored event would raise more money. Going without food seemed like the ideal choice as it meant we’d get a tiny glimpse of what many people in Niger experience every single day.’
If, like RTG International, you would like to organise an event at your workplace, please contact them on 01752 253888 or email claire.burlison@rtg.co.uk to receive sponsor forms and posters. Alternatively, you can make a donation via the Disasters Emergency Committee web site at www.dec.org.uk.
