Fruit of the Loom launches creative challenge 2005
Published:  24 August, 2005

Fruit of the Loom are inviting you to ‘Start Creating’ and win £10,000 worth of equipment for your business!

The company has launched its 2005 Creative Challenge, the third annual competition to find Europe’s most artistic garment decoration businesses. The pan-European competition challenges garment decorators to create an original design, inspired by the competition’s theme, and apply it to a Fruit of the Loom Short Sleeve Baseball T.

The business submitting the best entry will receive equipment of its choice to the value of £10,000. The Creative Challenge 2005 is open to all garment decoration businesses with a head office in Europe. To register, simply visit the Fruit of the Loom European web site (www.fruitoftheloom.com) and click through to the Creative Challenge pages.

There you will find full details of the competition, including this year’s theme. Once you have registered your details, you will receive a copy of the official Registration Pack, which contains entry forms and a Short Sleeve Baseball T for decoration. (The sporty Short Sleeve Baseball T is available in a choice of four colourways and competitors will be asked to state their preference during the registration process.) The closing date for all entries is October 31st, 2005.

Designs may be applied using any type or combination of decoration techniques Ð screen printing, embroidery, embossing, transfers and so on Ð and there is no constraint on their size or placement on the garment.

The only requirements are that all designs must be reproduced on a Short Sleeve Baseball T and relevant to the competition theme.

When all of the entries have been processed, a panel of independent judges will select six regional winners. From these, the overall European winner will be chosen and awarded the top prize. Awards will also be presented to each regional winner.

Fruit of the Loom is keen to emphasise that the Creative Challenge 2005 is open to all garment decorators, irrespective of their size and industry experience. All entries will be judged anonymously, to ensure complete impartiality, and the prizes will be awarded on artistic merit alone.

‘It is worth noting that the two previous Creative Challenges have been won by smaller garment decoration businesses, each employing just three members of staff. The competition rewards imagination and artistic skill, not annual turnover,’ points out Jane Goodman, vice president of marketing.

Last year’s Creative Challenge was won by German transfer printers, Bird Shirt Textildruck Schšbel. The company’s winning design, comprising of striking front and back prints that link the four ages of man to the four seasons, can be viewed on the Creative Challenge website, along with the other five regional winners.

Jane Goodman added, ‘The Creative Challenge 2005 is an international showcase for the wealth of creative talent that exists within our industry. It provides a perfect opportunity for garment decoration businesses of all sizes to demonstrate their skills, as well as competing for the fabulous first prize.’
