Secret stars of the Printwear and Promotion Exhibition
With the P&P exhibition fast arriving, Tony Whitmore examines some of the budding embroidery developments making waves at this year's event.
Published:  02 February, 2009

Mystery surrounds the release of Your Embroidery Services' latest machines, which look set to be one of the highlights of this year's Printwear and Promotion Exhibition at the NEC next month.

Both new models are from the larger range of Korean based manufacturer SWF's machines such as 4 or 6 head variety, with one from the dual function range but further details are being closely guarded.

The new product in question is actually two new models of embroidery machine from Korean based manufacturer SWF. Both models are from the larger range of machines such as 4 or 6 head variety and we know that one is from the dual function range but further details are being closely guarded by the company.

The reason for the secrecy is based around the fact that SWF have a firm belief and commitment to protecting its developments not only for the sake of themselves and their distributors but also for the customers worldwide. Until they have confirmed patents on the major parts of the development then the detail remains confidential.

This has a major benefit for their current and future customers because it offers protection against competition.

Because the machines are so well protected then the advantage SWF users have over their competition is also protected and maintained for a considerable period.

Past developments by SWF and 'YES Ltd.' have produced machines that offer massive increases in production and were it not for the commitment to protection then this benefit would have been eroded away by other machine manufacturers.

Previously, SWF has even been known to delay the launch of a machine because not all patents applied for had been granted in time. This may seem a little over the top to some but it seems to have the desired effect with this being the third SWF machine launch at the P and P exhibition.

Many regular visitors will remember the fantastically staged appearance of the dual function machine which involved flashing lights and smoke, well this one will be a little more subdued but no less important.

Roy Burton, Managing Director of Your Embroidery Services Ltd. said "Printwear and Promotion is the major show of the year and one of the few large annual shows left so it is no surprise that we, and SWF, think it the place to launch new machines"

When queried about the new models Roy was quite guarded and would only say that, as with most SWF developments, customers could expect to see some benefits from these machines. I suppose the only way to find out more about either or both of these is to make sure that you visit stand F10 at the show.

Although no longer considered as a new model it is still the only one of its kind in the world and stands as testament to SWF's attitude regarding design and development.

Most readers will already know of these machines but, for those few who don't, they give the user the facility to embroider two different products and/or patterns at the same time on the same machine establishing them as the most flexible production machine on the market.

SWF are not the only one to push boundaries' though, as DTG will also have something new at the show.

At this year's P & P two massive steps forward are being taken with the introduction of new inks and the all new WIMS (White Ink Management System).

Both of these items have a profound effect on the profit generating capacity of machines and, maybe surprisingly, are not the sole preserve of the new machine purchase.

In other words they both work well and can be retro-applied to machines currently in use yet again showing a dedication to development that deserves to be applauded. Apart from these "additional" items 'YES Ltd.' is also launching a new DTG machine, the Viper. This new model uses a conveyor feed system which increases the productivity of the machine. It also benefits from the latest ink feed system plus many other new features. This will be the first time that this machine will have been seen at a UK show so make a note in your diary.

Don't forget that the show runs at the Birmingham NEC from Sunday March 1st until Tuesday March 3rd 2009 and, if you want to see these latest developments then you should make sure that you visit stand F10.
